aux cooling fan

My 89 740 Gl has an aux cooling fan. I took the grill off to get it ready to paint and the fan is somewhat hard to turn so I'm sure it needs replacement. I've read the f.a.q. and everything seems to say that the relay for this fan is on the coolant overflow bottle and is a twin of the rsr. I only have one relay on the bottle and no idea where the aux cooling relay would be on this car. Also, I have no continuity at the sensor on the right hand tank of the radiator at operating temp so I beleive this is bad too. But, there is no voltage at that switch either. Where would I look for the relay?
Thanks
