Pinion Seal Leak 900 1991

I installed a new pinion seal a couple of days ago. The new one leaks worse than the old.

I have verified that the vent in NOT blocked
Carefully marked all parts
Torque to 148 ft lbs
Cleaned everything well
Lubed new seal prior to yoke install

Is it possible that I got the wrong seal? I have read that there are two different seals (compression and non-compression. However, the torque on the nut was not anywhere near 45 ft lbs when removed. The seal did not look like a compression type. New seal looked like the one in the FAQ but not like the one removed. I figured it was just an aftermarket one. I could not fine the markings on my car. I bought the part from my local Volvo shop (not dealer).

If I have installed one seal I have installed 100. Was an Aircraft and Power plant mechanic for 5 years and never had one leak. Have resealed most every seal on the B230FT and no leaks. I hope I have missed something obvious or just having a bad day. None the less I will need to go through the hole process again.

Thanks for your help!
