How to disingage idiot lights 200

Hi,

I have a 1989 240 DL which would be my 3rd 240, and I really do love her. It runs excellent but the "Check Engine" light is on and I've been told that they can be unplugged...also on the dash it tells me a light is out and I know for a fact there are no lights out. Is it possible to unplug that censor as well??
