well, judging by my luck lately w/ my 164, i am suspending any work on it until i have my 740 fixed and i can actually enjoy working on the 164 again. it looks like a transmission swap is in my near future, and i have enlisted my brother and uncle for "Task Force 20." while we're acquiring parts for the trans swap, i think i may look for an exhaust manifold and turbo off of whatever bricks i come across. i was thinking about it, and maybe it would be a good idea to redo the exhaust while we're under there. is this a good idea? i heard somehwere that you should keep back pressure down w/ a turbo installed, and i thought a bigger pipe to the muffler would do this, i would be keeping a real muffler on it, not a coffee can(i have some self respect). i was thinking about just getting the turbo and now, and it will prolly need some work of some sort. so i figure i'll just do the exhaust along with the AW70 swap and do some engine work before adding the turbo. this brings me to the other question, what kind of work should be done to accomodate this turbo setup? should i clean/service the chambers and pistons? replace the head gasket? is the new exhaust just a big fat waste of time/$$$?
when i took the 740 in to have the fron end alignment done, they said the rack & pinion needed to be replaced soon. what could i take the rack&pinion from, and what years?
