Black box (on side of amp) 700

1988 760 Turbo ***Note, 740 guys with different stereo please don't give some wacky response to this...



What is that little black plastic box bolted onto the side of the stereo amplifier (which is next to steering column on 760)...it has something in german written on it which directly translated might go something like "Controlturn Out"...

It has an 8-prong connector, and a separate 1 prong connector...what does this thing do? It clearly doesn't affect the audio when it's unplugged...
