hall sensor help please... 200 1983

After all kinds of checks on my 240 dl, I opened up my distributor and the wires coming out of the hall sensor and plugging into the harness were totally frayed and insulation breaking off all over. I decided this had to be the cause of my intermittent stalling problems, atleast one of the problems. Now my task is how to fix it. I guess I just need to get a whole new hall sensor, but from what I have read and heard, installing just the sensor is more of a pain than it is worth. So I am planning on getting a sensor already with the distributor plate and replacing it that way. Will that work, please help me here! Also, is the new sensor going to come with the new plug to plug into the harness. Give me any advice you have about the hall sensor PLEASE!
