960 a/c stops blowing under acceleration 900 1995

I took the car to the shop...not a volvo specialist. They said there are 2 check valves and one or both have gone bad. I read under the FAQ about the vacuum controlled solenoid going bad. My questions is...is the shop refering to the solenoid when they say check valve? That leads to the next question...is there both a solenoid and check valve or just the solenoid? Based upon the FAQ board, this looks like an involved project. Anyone ever do this, and if so what was involved? Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Jim
