Bad fuel pump maybe on my 200K -1991 940se 900 1991

It's difficult to determine where the sound is coming from exactly but there is an buzzing noise that comes and goes. Especially noticable when engine is idling. Think it may the fuel pump. Noise has been there for 4 months of heavy driving. Now more and more the car wont restart after briefly shutting off the engine. Cant restart for 10 mins or so. Flooding the engine??? HELP
Where should I start? Pre pump...
Not much of a mechanic and dont really have the tools so am taking the FAQ sheet and your suggestion to my indep. Volvo Mech.
