I purchased the adapter plate from John Parker at V-Performance, and am now assembling the engine-tranny on my garage floor. The adpater plate is precisely built and well finished. It's pretty much bolt together, only minor concerns right now like the speedo hookup which I'd like to get settled before I install it all.

The transmission is a T5 from a '87 tbird turbo coupe. There are a few different t5 ratios available, depending primarily on whether a 2.3 or 5.0. The torque ratings seem fine either way. see: http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2000/09/t5swap/index2.shtml

I got a 8.5" clutch plate for a Ford 2.3 at Napa for $37. It seems to fit nicely inside the Sachs clutch. A 2.3 pilot bearing fits the Volvo crank. I had a little fun cutting out the Auto torque convertor adapter bushing.

Be sure to get an output yoke, and you'll need a shifter for most t5s you'll find. The 2.3's tend to be cheaper than the 5.0's, which tend to get abused (re: your local Mustang driver).

Once it's in, I hope the driveshaft mating will be okay. The t5 yoke is substantially larger than the 145 auto shaft I have. It will also have 2 sliding splines, but I had that on a 5.0 780 (a previous life), and it worked fine.

According to John the shifter lines up perfectly with the shifter hole.

Should give me a top gear of .79, slightly higher than the j-odrive of 0.77

When I get it all in I'll try to post a project with pics.
