Another question for the experts on tranny flushing 700 1989

Like someone else said in another post, after reading all about tranny flushing in the posts, I'm getting hyped up to do it to my car. I was at a "Jiffy Lube" recently talking to them about getting the tranny flushed on my 87 Chevy pickup and I asked them if they changed the filter along with it. He told me that if the tranny is flushed that you don't need to ever change the filter. I promptly left and haven't been back. Question: I know I need to change the filter along with the flush but what's the best order to do it in? My common sense tells me to flush first since that will send some crap into the filter, then drop the pan and change the filter. Will cost some extra fluid but should be worth it, at least in peace of mind. Any thoughts?
