1988 240 questions 200

HI, I am the proud owner of an 88 240 with 287,000 miles on it. I will be doing some suspension upgrades in the very near future as most of the current parts are the original ones. The struts seem ok but when going over bumps something in the front makes a rattle noise. Could this be that the upper strut mounts are worn out? My other question is about the clutch. On occasion it is very difficult to get the car into first gear after the car has come to a complete stop. If im on a hill and it rolls forward a little it seems to go right into gear without too much effort. The pedal catches really high and seems almost worn completly out so I was planning on replacing the clutch anyways but I was wondering the excessive effort to get it into 1st gear was also a result of the worn clutch. Thanks in advance. Josh
