cylinder head repaired/distributor off!

Just got the cylinder head back from the machine shop for my 1988 740 turbo. You can tell it was welded because the area that was repaired between the two cylinders is a slightly different color but the surface is pretty smooth. They also gave me back a bag of parts, including the distributor, that I had left attached to the head. Unfortunately, they didn't mark the position before it was removed. Is there any way to be certain of which is the right way to reinstall? I don't want to put it back on 180 degrees out of kilter.
