Oil Filters 200 1988

Two simple questions:

1. I purchased a Purolator One filter locally for about what the Mann filter costs online. For my next oil change which one is superior?

2. After the oil change what in the heck do you do with the filters? Auto-Zone takes the old oil but not the filter and there is still alot of oil left in them after draining. I am reluctant to pitch them in the trash.
