On my 16v there is a relay that sits on the coolant bottle that runs the aux fan. The setup is the same on your car except for the relay location; I don;t know where it is on your car. Anyway, the factory setup should do the job well. If you wanted to hotwire your a/c fan you could probably run a jumper from the a/c compressor clutch to the signal pin on the a/c relay. I don't know if that would work or not. I'd do some experimenting with a voltmeter first. You might want to get a good volvo greenbook schematic. Always a good thing to have. just a thought.
