car shakes like crazy at idle. . .motor/trans mounts? 200 1987

Here's the latest glitch. . .while driving this week, i noticed that the car has been shaking a lot more at idle. it almost feels like it's shaking about an axis going straight down through the center of the car (and into the ground. . .so it's vertical). It's also been stalling a lot. I think the stalling might be due to a gummed up IAC valve. I'm going to clean that out this weekend, but could it be causing the shake?

how do i check for worn trans and motor mounts?
