240 windshield wiper madness!!! 200

Okay, I have an 86 240 DL Wagon and at first the wiper's didn't work at all. So i cleaned out the motor - it was rusted inside on some of the parts. After putting it back together the motor works, but two new problems have arrisen:

1. once the wipers are on, they stay on no matter what position i move the switch into; granted they get faster and slower when the position changes, it's just that when the switch is pushed alll the way up it still doesn't stop the wipers.
2. only the driver side wiper moves, the passenger side wiper only moves when it's flipped up and you press down on the part that connects it to the car.

Any ideas? I've had a lot of fun just trying to windshield wipers, i guess it's good while i save up enough money for a new headgasket set and blower motor. WHOOOOOOO! Thanks for any help fellas, you guys are great.

-jg OUT!
