'83 240 DL. Drivers side Rear door won't unlock. 200 1983

Hello,

I am new to the forum so thanks in advance for helping a newbie. The drivers side rear door won't unlock.

The pull knob for the lock only travels about 1/2". This lock doesn't have the mechanical click when the engages/disengages. The door handle appears to be
working correctly both inside and outside.

The door is currently closed so I am unable to remove the door panel with out damaging it.

Any suggestions?
