Erratic Engine 1800 1973

First off, I was very excited to see my question answered so quickly. Second, I’ve been doing some work on my car today. I replaced the ignition coil, the old one was filled with a liquid. Then I took the car out for a drive. Although the car seemed to have more power the erratic revving continued near and above 3000 rpm. I’ll check the pre filter when I start to run out of gas. I’ll check the point gap but that is new and last time I checked correct. I’ll buy a dwell meter tomorrow and check the dwell again, though I’m not sure how to adjust it. Someone told me to replace the fuel filter, should I do that? If there were a problem with the fuel pressure or a restriction of some kind of restriction , how would I check it? I know the ignition timing is erratic because it jumps up and down by about ten to twenty degrees, bu I don’t know what this means or how to correct it.
