neutral safety switch problem 900 1994

I don't think you burned up the neutral safety switch. You may have burned the shift lock solenoid. That's what actually holds the shifter into PARK and releases when you put your foot on the brakes. The neutral safety switch is probably still intact if the car starts in some gear. I would check the transmission mount underneath- if it fails, the engine/transmission can get out of line with the body- that makes the neutral switch get out of alignment.
I haven't seen very many failures of the neutral switch but I have seen some failures of the solenoid, and Volvo knew it could happen, which is why you have the "Shiftlock Override" feature.
