Where exactly does the rain water collect on the rear of a 245? 200 1989

89, 245 w/Roof rack

Can someone tell me a bit more about this rain water collection area in the 245 rear tailgate area?

(I should probably look at mine. I park my Volvo facing downward in the front and it is holding more water. My front-most underneath rocker panel water drain "spilt seam" area, was pinched closed from someone not jacking it up properly, and when I figured that out, finally I was able to get rid of the water that collected inside, by reopening the seam with a hefty screwdriver, and it was like a floodgate - now it all drains out, albeit too late, there is a hole in the floor, and rust all over the place down there. But it explains why water was always running out when I jacked the front up.

But the ducting is driving me nuts, I can't figure out what goes where, I have no schematic.

So, how do large Maple tree leaves get into the middle of my dash inside the car? (I can't see any opening down under there) ...

What exactly are the routes the ducting takes starting with the outside in front of the windshield vents in front of the driver and passenger? ...

Does this ducting have any connection to the rocker panel ducting?
