Help! 740 Wagon Drives By Itself... 700

OK, I may have made a big mistake today. I am driving home from work this afternoon and my oil light starts to flicker on and off (actually not so strange as I have been having problems with a few of my sensor lights). The engine temp reads straight down the middle. I pull into the local Jiffy Lube and get the oil changed on my '92 740 Turbo wagon (it's been about 4000 since my last change...I know, I know I should have done it sooner AND I shouldn't go to Jiffy Lube--curses on me). So, I get into my car to drive off (it's in park) and notice my engine is reving pretty high. I throw it into drive and all of a sudden there is an extra jet pack attached to the car---I go flying off (literally). I decide to drive for a bit to see what's going on and basically I now have a car that drives itself. When I come to a stop and then take my foot off the brake the car moves forward on its own (and i don't mean just a little..it will coast a good 10mph) without my foot anywhere near the gas pedal. When I go to stop it makes a strange downshift lurch (like a hiccup) and then stops (but I have to really put on the brakes to make the car stop...it just wants to go). Thankfully, I didn't have to drive home too far. I pulled in front of the house and threw the car into park and the engine just raced up to 2000 rpm (I also hear a grating sound at the high rev). Can anyone out there shed light on what may have happened and what the problem could be? Clearly I need to take my beloved Volvo into my mechanic (who will no doubt lecture me). Should I have the car towed there? I would love to hear from some experts out there. Thanks!
