No start condition with warm engine 700 1989

Hey, all. I've got a wierd problem with my '89 740GL. It always starts, every time, after sitting a while (more than, say, 10 minutes) but in situations where I shut the car off and attempt to restart it after a short period of time (like yesterday after getting gas) it'll turn over. but not fire. Usually it'll fire after a few attempts, but yesterday it took 15 minutes to get it restarted. This is an infrequent occurrence, but it's been getting more so of late. Any ideas where to start looking?

Thanks.

Dave
