Brake Hose Question and Seal Instillation Problem Solved on a Rescued '94-944 900

Upon careful inspection after a difficult and failed seal installation I found out why the install force was so high. There was a build up of hardened crud, sealant(?), or hardened oil on the carrier which prevented the new seal to go in properly. I should have looked at it closer the first time! After trying carb cleaner on rags bits wrapped around a dowel rod, clean up of the carrier was accomplished with 0000 steel wool wound around a wooden dowel and carb cleaner. I could not get the carrier gasket in time and installed a Volvo seal, carrier on, without a problem.

One guide pin and both rotors are frozen. Per the FAQ everything is soaking in PB Blaster. The pre-purchase inspection found cracked front brake hoses. It looks like l'll need a 14mm and an 11 mm flair nut wrench. Should I expect the metal line frozen to the hose fitting? Any words of wisdom?
