Possible Oil Pump Die'ing? 700 1989

Hey looking for some feeback on this, recently in the last few months we have noticed the Oil light on the dash staying on alittle longer everytime we start the car, is this a starting sign i may have a failing oil pump? car has some small piston slap which it has had for 50k it also has 255000 on it. any thought's an ideas would be helpfull.

I am going to have the pressure checked sometime soon but if the symtoms describe a failing pump id rather skip the test and just get to replacing.
