How can i get my shift light to work (Ihave a dangeling blue wire behind dash) 200 1987

My '87 240DL shift indicator light stays on when ever i turn my car on. When i was replacing bulbs i guess i accidently knocked a blue wire off . I never had the shift indicator working before because it never had a bulb until now. Where does this blue wire go to? I tried the two spade connections between the speedo and the temp gauge; but neither made it work. Every other connection has somthing on it. On the back right beside the shift indicator light there is a yellow and a red striped wire. i would really like to get this feature working. (On the clutch pedal there are some wires pluged in ) Thanks
