Who knows expansion valve really well?? 200

I just changed my expansion valve on my 89 DL with a new one from Groton. While setting the sensor line againt the pipe in the evaporator I noticed that the line coming out of the top of the valve swivels, tightly, but it swivels. I think these are hard soldered in and are not supposed to move...they may form some kind of seal to the theromstatic function of the top of the valve.

Now I am afraid to go on with gassing and setting up the system. Is the valve bad, do I have to tear it all out and send it back to Groton?
