cruise control unit of 740 in a 940 '95 900 1995

The first picture is of the cruise control ECU used on 1990 and earlier 700 series. I have seen quite a few different part numbers for the ECU, and they all interchange. The part number changes probably indicate upgrades to the ECU.
Look closely at the electrical connection.


The next picture shows a cruise control ECU removed from a 1991 740. While the mounting bracket is the same, the wiring connector for the ECU is substantially different. If you are really bold you could change electrical connectors, eliminate two wires, and you would make the earlier cruise control ECU work on the later car.


All other components interchange between the 740s and 940s, excepting the 1991 940SE.
