Protecting the paint/body

I don't think I would waste my money on a car cover for everyday use. I think they can cause as much damage as they prevent. Dirt and dust on the surface wind and rain on the cover. Sounds like a recipe for scratches to me. Besides what do you do with a heavy wet cover when it rains. A cover might be a good investment if you are storing a car outside for a long period -- wash the car and secure cover right after.

If the paint is already peeling, there isn't much you can do. I would save the money from the cover and put it up for a new paint job down the road if you feel like it. See recent posting on Maaco. Seems some shpos are very good for the money.

The red paint on my '94 850 is quite faded. I can get it to shine if I use an abrasive cleaner and polish it right away. It looks good for a few months, then bad again.

The '87 740, blue/green looks great. The paint is bright and clear. With a little wax it shines like a diamond in a goats #&&.

No more red cars for me.
