Another engine lifting idea

This was just motor mounts.

I believe you can probable remove the crossmember with reasonable assurance you won't have thenengine drop onto you. I didn't actually look at the spacing between the oil pan and the cross member while the engine was hoisted to whatever maximum I neded to remove each mount. So, I can't say If I could have removed the oil pan without removing the cross member first.

For reference, I did have the engine's uppeer bracket(s) raised above the tops of the hydraulic mount to studs. So, what's that? About 2" above already soft worn mounts?

With the new mounts in, there looks to be 1" clearance between oil pan and crossmember.
