Overheating in New Volvos 2002

Have you cleaned the radiator and AC concencer coil? I have seen a lot of nice looking cars in the junk yard with radiators clogged with dirt and such. I often suspect that they overheated and this is the reason that they are no longer on the road. I have seen a couple where the front end looked like it was covered with dirty dryer lint. Can't figur out what that was.

I cleaned these both on my daughters car the other day. It is not a Volvo and I had to remove the electric fan and a bunch of other items just to get at the rdiator. While that was a real PITA, it was't the most fun. That came when I dropped a 10mm socket on a 1/4 X 6" extension and it totaly dissappeared. There was a slot in the frame about 5/8" wide and 1 1/2" long. Guess where the socket and extension ended up. Maybe things like this is the reason why 'book time' seems so long.

By the way, I soaked them down with clear water and then used a spray cleaner and washed it through, back to front and then front to back until all evidence of soap was gone. Seemed to work well.

Dan
