ABS error light when passing 160-170km/h 700 1988

Volvo 760 GLE -88B B280F

For some strange reason my ABS light always lights up when I drive at high speeds. After 160-170km/h (~100mph) the ABS light comes on and stays on until I turn of the ignition and starts up the car again. What could be the fault? Or is it normal? Could vibrations due to badly balanced front wheels cause this problem?
I can feel quite a lot of vibrations in the steeringwheel at such speeds.

Thanks,
Esa Salminen
