speedo connection in differential/how to fix? 700 1989

I finally got under the brick to check my speedo connection in the differential. low and behold the wires were bare and one was barely hanging on the plug. I couldn't get the plug pulled out either. So, now I am wondering what is the best way to go about fixing this? Once I get the plug out should I try and splice some new wire in? Can I get maybe a new plug with a stretch of wire already attached? What to do? Thanks everyone!
