89 240DL rattle noises while stopping 200 1989

Dear All,

My 89 240DL (station wagon) makes some rattle noises during stopping or when
starting to move forward from still. The noises come from the front end on the
driver's side, and are especially clear and loud if I make the process slow.

Turning the steering wheel will also make some sort of noises alike, but not
as loud. (The noise level is just audible while backing out in a quiet underground parking lot).

Tried to bounce the car at the front end. Indeed, it makes rattling/groaning noises if pushed down hard.

I went to a local Firestone shop. They replaced worn front brake discs and pads. Noises are still there.

Is the problem related to steering box or the suspension system or something else? please help!

thanks in advance,
vincent
