Blower only on high, ac on 1-4 no lights 700

Hey board,
Blower only works on 5, checked FAQ's and will be checking I guess that resistor pack. My real question is...does that pack affect everything else to include the AC and the lights that light the climate control unit. All was well yesterday AM, lunchtime I had no blower I was like uh oh. Did not realize the lights did not illuminate on it until night time when driving. BTW, the AC will get cold, compressor kicks on and off when the button is on and the blower is set to 1,2,3,4...On Five though, the compressor immediately shuts off. I am wondering if that resistor send something back to the control unit and such that would create this bedazzlement. It is a 91 740 n/a, automatic, no auto climate control.
