Clutch adjustment? 200

i have been trying to troubleshoot my clutch, and was wondering whether it is worthwhile for me to try adjusting it. especially as i don't have any sort of manual here or experience... i was looking at where the cable meets with the clutch, and it seemed to be a pusher cable? that would mean that for more complete disengagemnet i would tighten the nylon nut, yea? only... just as i wrote that i realized that all that would do is move the pedal farther down, and possibly introduce more slippage... it's probably not worthwhile to adjust it, i'm just clawing at possibilities that would leave me without a dropped tranny and an empty wallet. alright, that wasn't worthwhile, but i was curious about the big weight attaching the clutch cable to the actuation lever; what's it's purpose?
thanks. -morgan
