Not sure I should blame IPD for two poorly fitted headers that came with my 145. The one on the car had significant interference with the right upper control arm, so PO had smashed in the header tube for clearance. This unit was badly cracked by 4-1 collector which explains why another brand-new header was loose in the car, almost ready to go. I ground down the control arm shoulder to clear where the first unit interfered. Go to put 2nd unit in place and found it interfered with block boss for bell housing attachment. Since I didn't like the idea of sacrificing the block to a misfit header I took BFH w block of wood to adapt the header to the block. This took quite a number of substantial whacks, but finally the flange would line up flush with the surface of the head. PO told me these were IPD headers but dunno for sure.
Unless I hear about a really high quality header that fits w/o interference in 140 engine bay, I'm gonna get me a stock FI manifold. Port match this sucker, ge 'er ceramic powder coated, and build a decent down-tube with 2-1 adapter. Then take 'er all the way back with a 2-1/4" pipe with mandrel bends and flowmaster muffler. That'll let 'er breath easy! Probably kick but on most header installations.
Headers are notorious for exhaust gas leaks. Do it right, I say or don't do it at all. So far I've yet to see or hear about a good header that fits well into a 140. Tell me if I'm wrong. Chances are good that in Sweden there's folks that got this figured out, with stainless steel hardware, at $$$ cost + shipping.
