Anyone Ever Use The Rear Fog Lights For Tale-gaters? 200 1988

I have been playing with my new-to-me 1988 240DL all summer. I have only filled up the tank twice in all this time as I really have not been driving it all that much. This week it was back to work for me so I decided it would be good to drive the Volvo into Miami from where I live in Homestead, Florida. First day I try this I get tail gated by some guy in an older Volvo 245. For the record you rarely see 240s on the roads down here in SoFla so I was surprised to see a 245 and a bit miffed to have him riding my butt all the way up Krome Avenue (20 miles of THE most dangerous road in Florida). All this took place at 0545 this morning. I soon found that judicious flicking on and off of the rear fog light switch came in handy to tell this guy to back off. Seems that everytime he got close enough that he seemed to be about to kiss my bumper I would hit the switch and he would back off. Anyone else ever try this? I wonder if this gent might be a frequenter of this forum and just wanted to check out a fellow SoFla brick owner!
