AW's, torque converters and trouble shooting

You can feel the lockup in my 940 at 45 mph if you are in OD. Start off slow and get into OD at a speed less than 40 mph. Then accelerate slowly and the engine rpm will drop dramatically at about 45 when the lockup occurs. I can see a several hundred RPM drop on the tach.

I've only had the 940 about 3 months and I'm still learning it. So far the mileage isn't great, not bad, just not great. Around town we get about 21-22. On the freeway with some city traffic added, we get about 26-27 (AC on). My daughter's '84 240 with the AW70 gets 22 in town and I've been able to get nearly 30 on the highway! The 240 is a little lighter than the 940 and has far fewer bells and whistles (no AC).
