Fuel Pump Replacement / Bad Mechanic Update 200

Some of you may remember my post about 6 weeks ago about a mechanic replacing the main fuel pump when I agreed to have only the in-tank pump replaced. (Thread http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=659246)

The update is that, after contacting the BBB, the mechanic has agreed to refund parts & labor if I return the pump he installed. I could probably get him to swap the parts back (I kept the old pump), but who would want such a person touching their car again? I've got the Haynes book and although this looks pretty straight forward, it will be the most advanced work I've done.

Any tips?
