No start but with slight ignition while turning the key on and off 200 1991

Hi,

Another mystery. This car has a history of intermittent cutting out. Now it won't start along with odd symptoms. When I turn the key on there is one spark and the engine rotates backwards, same while turning off. No spark while cranking. It is like the engine is out of time. Also the speedo "bumps" when turning on the key.
Plenty of power to the coil.

Just replaced the reference (speed) sensor, fuel pump and pressure regulator. At various times the air mass meter, computer, idle air motor, throttle position switch, etc have been replaced. The coolant sensor twice and it still comes up as a fault code.
