ac clutch 700

Hi,
I resently fill yp the R12 on my 740GL but the clutch does not kick in.
FAQ says I can connect direct power to the clutch but I do not know which wire. Is that the black wire that comes out of clutch and do I jut give 12V positive to that?? Just to check the system shop asking $100.00
