To blink or not to blink, that's my car's question... any ideas? 200

Ok, so I have a 90’ 240 wagon and I’ve been battling it for some time now. The directional signals seem to work when they want to. Several months ago I was driving down the interstate and went to use my directional and all I got was a buzzing sound. After getting home I looked into it and found that the sound was from the flasher relay. It was fluttering. So I opened it up and cleaned it a bit and no luck. Eventually the problem went away so I forgot about it. Now it’s back and with renewed furry. I can drive for weeks with no problem, or with a problem with no change, however sometimes it’s working 1 minute and buzzing the next. It flip flopped 4 times on the drive to the hardware store (10 min trip). I’ve replaced the 4-way flasher switch in the center console and replaced the flasher relay. Same result. I’ve tried adding a ground from the flasher relay with no luck. At this point I’m seriously thinking about bolting on a flash light to each corner of the car and wiring up switches for me to flip manually. Any ideas…. Any help would be much appreciated.
