Not disputing what it does for octane. Even in low concentrations it causes
most kinds of elastomers to swell and then when it is gone they shrink and
get hard. Sometimes the swelling is bad enough to cause seizure.
It is probably also hard on things like fuel pressure regulator diaphragms,
fuel pump diaphragms, carb parts, injector hoses and seals, etc ad nauseam.
It's also carcinogenic.
Use it to thin contact cement maybe but not on parts you plan to continue
using for the long haul.
