Hi George,
I have not made it in to the Cambridge area yet, but we do plan to go wierdo watching some saturday when we get time. When I came here I drove from the office west one hour and said to my wife "This is where we will live." As far away from boston as feasable to drive to work. So, we live south of Worcester near the CT/RI/MA intersection. Not too bad of a place. More Volvo guys than in Arkansas for sure!
Lots of Russian stuff in Worcester and Providence for the wife. She is "gavoreeting" with all kinds of folks here.
I just got up here about 4 weeks ago. I had to sell the weaker of my children to afford a house that did not leak, but it's not so bad. I am shopping on ebay for the Bob Vila complete set of every episode in a monogrammed case. "I bought a house" is sort of a 'tonge in cheek' comment.
Ever hear of horsehair plaster?
Did you know that these guys up here burn diesel in their basement for heat? Big tanks of it down there just waiting to leak or have a fire.
When I ask them about it, the throw up their nose and say "Tisk Tisk, I burn heating oil, it's NOT diesel."
Crazy if you ask me, but I have a big tank of the stuff down there also. I guess I'll have to figure out that burner system or freeze to death this winter. It will be ok, I have a wood stove. Perhaps I'll subscribe to hundreds of snail mail spam lists to get stuff to burn this winter.
It's a big job to move across the country like this, but I made it to corporate HQ with the big dogs now. Guess I can't complain. A new cubicle and more great stuff to do at the office. The clam chowder is great here also. I prefer crawfish to lobster.
Later,
Jeremy
