Is it OK to use a Scantech thermostat??? 900 1998

I ordered a new radiator from FCPGroton and a new thermostat along with it. They didn't offer a Volvo OEM piece, only a Scantech. The Scantech looks to be made of a different material (it's all gold colored (brass?!?)) and the spring rate seems to be weaker. Should I just trash this thing or is it ok to use? The Volvo one I took out is all silver colored, which makes sense because it should be all alluminum for the 2.9 six engine.
