Almost afraid to say FWD, but are S 40's any good?

As we know, the supply of good RWD vehicles by Volvo is drying up. I would like to find a good 940 T approx. '95 year, but they are scarce. Son is thinking of the S-40 and am wondering if any of you RWD folks also have one of these. Experiences, warnings??
