isn't that normal? 200 1983

is that normal? I didnt think my volvo used to do that. I mean the needle is really jumping around, not just a little bit. Anyway, I think rpm sensor are only on cars that dont have the hall sensor in the distributor which mine does and I just replaced. Hmm. This is frustrating. These intermittent stalls keep me from being able to use my car, what should I do? Some times the engine will go into this surging cycle for several minutes will it will surge and dropm and surge and drop for several minutes. Why?
