?? for 245 owners....re:roof rack removal 200

I've always liked the appearance of 240 wagons with OEM roof racks. For some reason, rackless 245s just seemed a bit plain to me. I've never really used it as a utility item. I use it only once a year for toting home a Christmas tree. But now with increasing gasoline prices, I'm considering removing the rack just for the miniscule gain in highway fuel economy. My ultimate plan is to fabricate some sort of small "lip" spoiler for the hatch once the rack is removed. Such an item would be rendered useless by the added turbulance that the rack would generate. I'm not going for downforce here, just a little draft pressure reduction behind the car. My question is....A. How difficult is it to remove the rack.....and B. Is it realistic to believe that I would see a tiny increase in MPG?
