Symptoms of failing Hall Effect sensor, Ignition computer 200 1985

Could someone tell me from personal experience what are the symptoms of a failing Hall effect sensor inside the distributor. Do these units fail intermitently or they die once and for all. Is it possible that warm weather might magnify the problem if there is an issue?

How do I know if I have the 10cm or the 14cm distributor shaft in my distributor
I am asking this because for 85' they used different distributors and they use a different type of hall effect sensor.

What are the symptoms of a failing Ignition computer ( the one in the engine compartment)?

Thanks

Mike
