my poor rusty friend 140-160

We're in riverside, california, which is mid way between los
angeles (whereever that is) and palm springs.

I like the car very much and have taken care of the things
that it needs that I could fix (shocks, springs, new manifold,
front suspension, IPD sway bar, tires, brake lines, master
cylinder/booster, etc) but the body is rotting and I don't
have the energy to buy a clean 164 and transfer the good stuff
from one to the other. Oh, also the seats are nice as is the
carpet...

If I had time and energy and space, I'd buy a nice bodied
1972 164 (blue) and swap the parts around but I'd rather
concentrate on my almost perfect 1 owner 73 142 and my almost
sound worn out 68 145.

Of course, having my VW tdi that gets 47mpg doing 80 and is
dead silent (relative to my 4spd 164, at least) really saps
my desire to fix up my 164. Of course, it costs more to insure.
